Service Description

Research about women on the spectrum is fairly new and publicly unknown. There is a whole new population of women learning that the consistent challenges throughout their lives may be attributed to undiagnosed autism. Have you always felt somewhat alien from others? Worked so hard to follow social norms and appease others (masking) that you find you're exhausted the minute you step away? Been given diagnoses of anxiety, depression, eating disorders and/or adhd, but those treatments didn't address your issues? You *may* be on the spectrum. This session adapts based on its participants and their needs, but generally sessions offer women a place to discuss these issues and to explore together. We'll review some relevant research, and discuss strategies for managing daily challenges, but mostly we'll focus on what participants want to talk about. This workshop is generalized for an adult population, and is designed to be inclusive, meaning encouraged for neuro-typical, autistic and special needs populations alike. We all benefit from interacting and learning from each other. Please remember to be kind and supportive with your comments. These facilitated group discussions are a safe space for people with similar circumstances to discuss the unique challenges, frustrations, joys and insights that occur within their group. Ground rules include no dominating the conversation, no shaming, respect for all, and confidentiality. Groups often find a cathartic and heartwarming balance between vulnerability, shared humor and support. Note: If you are interested this workshop for an adolescent or a child, please message me and we can schedule a youth-focused session.
